Types of Dental Imaging (X-ray Radiographs)

Periapical X-rays

Periapical X-rays provide detailed images of the entire tooth, including the root and surrounding bone structure. These X-rays are essential for diagnosing issues that affect the tooth's root and the surrounding bone.

Bite-wing X-rays

Bite-wing X-rays are used to detect tooth decay and changes in bone thickness caused by gum disease. They also assist in evaluating the fit of crowns (caps that surround teeth) or other restorations, such as bridges. Additionally, they can identify wear or deterioration of dental fillings.

Dental X-rays

Panoramic X-rays capture the entire mouth in a single image, showing all the teeth in both the upper and lower jaws. These X-rays are used to detect the position of fully emerged and emerging teeth, as well as impacted teeth and tumors.

Cephalometric X-rays

Cephalometric X-rays provide projections of one side of the head at a time, examining the teeth, jaw, and profile. Orthodontists use these X-rays to create customized teeth realignment strategies for each patient.

CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography)

CBCT technology uses X-ray equipment to create 3-D images of teeth and gums when traditional dental X-rays are insufficient. This advanced imaging technique highlights complex nerve paths and soft tissues, helping specialists diagnose and treat underlying issues effectively.
